Other than tuning, what maintenance may be needed?

A piano has many moving parts. Minor repairs may be needed from time to time to correct “sticking keys” or other malfunctioning parts.

This is not

uncommon regardless of the brand or age of the piano. For example, sticking keys are actually more common in NEW pianos than in older ones.

Action Regulation will be in order after some years to compensate for wear in the many moving parts. This process is needed to restore the touch and responsiveness of your piano.

Voicing may be an option if the sound or tone of your piano is not what it used to be.

Felt hammers and other parts that have experienced years of use may need to be filed to the proper shape or replaced.

You may never need any of these repairs, but regular tuning can often ensure that these problems are corrected while they are still minor.
